All the Pretty Horses

Sometime in the last eight years, my youngest daughter has fallen in love with horses. She doesn't come by this gene naturally, as both Keith and I prefer to use a four wheeler any day over a four legged creature with a tail. Of course Dani has a love affair with the four wheeler also. The faster the better. That will be a story for another day.

So one morning, she convinced the cowyboys to let her ride along with them when they moved cattle. A cowgirl was born.

Now everytime we go by the horse corrals and barn she wants to stop and visit her four legged friends.

They of course love the attention, but wish she would bring a treat with her when she stops by.
Krista even likes to stop and say hi, but has zero desire to ride them.
She had a bad experience with our old horse Lobo. One winter day when she got bucked off of Lobo and hit the ground hard. She did get right back on but since then they have been just fine to look at only.
When I was about eight years old, I was bucked off my cousin Joni's horse Gyspy and my foot was caught in the reins and I dragged around the corral a time or two. For some reason since then I don't have much desire to saddle and ride horses either.
Maybe this gene was also passed onto Krista.

The frown on Dani's face is because her dad told her she wasn't riding today.

I was kicked in the face when I was little, so I've always been a little leery as well. Pioneer Woman describes horse riding the best .... bouncing up and down uncontrollably because you don't know what to do with your legs. That's me. I'd just as soon talk to them and fed 'em an apple or carrot or two. That's close enough for me.

Didn't you almost get a finger bitten off doing that a few years ago?
