Flashback Friday

I have had so much fun reading Sister Two's and Sister Three's memories for times gone by that I decided to implement Flashback Fridays.  Each Friday I think one of us should share something that strikes us for that week.  Photos would be nice, but since we've pretty much used up all of Sister Two's and Sister Three's pictures, we may have to fore go that piece.  I still have a couple that I'll share, but the pickings are really slim.  Sometime while Mom is napping, I sneak in and go through her photo albums and do some scanning!

I could probably write an entire book on my memories of Grandma Hall.  This lady had the most patience of any person I have ever met.  If I could have 1/10 of her patience, I would be so happy.  She would play marbles and cards for hours on end with us and I don't ever recall her telling us no.  She had to get sick  of playing games, but you'd never know it.  Of course while we played she let us eat her freshly baked cookies and drink Coke.  The good kind from the bottle.  Glass bottles, not these stupid flimsy plastic ones.  I swear it tastes so much better from a glass bottle than a can or plastic bottle, but it's probably just my memories of drinking them with Grandma that's clouding my taste buds.
We lived at the sale barn in an apartment over the auction ring.  Back in my elementary schools days, our lunch hour was long enough that we could go home to eat.  Mom couldn't get out on Wednesdays which were sale days because her car was always blocked in, so I would get to walk to Grandma's for lunch.  I got to set the menu.  Every single Wednesday from first through most of fifth grade Grandma made spaghetti, blueberry muffins, and chocolate pudding for lunch.  We also had chocolate milk.  Oh, how I looked forward to Wednesdays!
If I could choose one person, living or dead, to have lunch with it would be Grandmother Hall.  And we would have spaghetti.

What a wonderful way to start a Friday but with a memory of Grandmother! Thank you!

I miss her so much also. I would go visit her every day after school all through high school. But she wasn't home any more so I wasn't blessed with her cookies and cokes, but wonderful stories!

I think of Grandmother Hall every time I see an Iris. Although now that I think about it, maybe it's because of her awesome flowers or maybe because her first name is Irene.
